Dubovica Beach, Hvar island

Dubovica Beach is a stunning pebble beach on Hvar Island, Croatia, perfect for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling, surrounded by greenery and crystal-clear sea. Accessible by car or boat with nearby restaurants. Found out more in this article

Introduction to Dubovica beach

Dubovica Beach on the island of Hvar in Croatia is a hidden gem that is sure to take your breath away. Located on the southern coast of the island, Dubovica Beach offers crystal clear waters, stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, and a secluded atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing and unwinding. With its pebble and rock shoreline, it’s a great spot for swimming and sunbathing, and also for snorkeling and diving.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or an action-packed adventure, Dubovica Beach has something for everyone. With its natural beauty and unspoiled scenery, it’s the perfect destination for travelers looking for a truly authentic Croatian experience. So if you’re planning a trip to Hvar, make sure to add Dubovica Beach to your itinerary – you won’t be disappointed!

How To Get There

There are several ways to reach Dubovica Beach. You can choose to go by boat, taxi, scooter, or car. However, the best option is by car or scooter (of course, if you know how to drive a scooter or motorcycle, I suggest that, as it is much easier to park). Keep in mind that there is a small, free parking lot available, but it fills up quickly, so it’s best to arrive early, around 9:30/10 AM.

The beach is just a short drive from Hvar town, taking around 10-25 minutes by car and about 20-25 minutes by scooter or motorcycle. If you prefer to take a boat, there are several local companies that offer boat rentals or organized boat tours to Dubovica Beach.

SCOOTER 🛵

If you’re looking to explore the area around Dubovica Beach and want to have more freedom of movement, renting a scooter could be a great option for you. On average, scooter rentals cost around 40-45 euros per day without gas for a 50cc model. However, before you head to a rental agency, it’s important to keep a few things in mind. Firstly, you’ll need to have a valid B license in order to rent a scooter.

Additionally, it’s important to have prior experience driving a scooter or motorcycle, as most rental agencies won’t be able to rent to you without it. So, if you have a valid B license and have some experience driving scooters or motorcycles, renting a scooter can be a great way to get around and explore Dubovica Beach and the surrounding area. Also, keep in mind that the best option is to reserve it in advance.

CAR 🚗

If you’re looking to rent a car, it’s easy to do so at one of the rental car agencies in town. To rent a car, you’ll need a valid driver’s license and a deposit. Some agencies may require a monetary deposit, while others may only require a form of identification, such as a passport or ID. The cost of renting a car can vary depending on the model, but it typically ranges from 60 to 100 euros per day, not including gas.

TAXI 🚖

As a final transportation option, you can choose to take a taxi to Dubovica Beach. This way, you won’t have to worry about parking or renting a car. However, keep in mind that taking a taxi can be more expensive, as it can cost around 30 euros for a one-way trip. On the other hand, if you rent a scooter or car, you’ll have the whole day to explore and won’t be limited by transportation.

Where to eat and enjoy

When you visit Dubovica Beach, you don’t have to worry about finding food and drink. There are two great options for refreshing yourself while you’re there. Once you reach the beach, you’ll find a restaurant on the left side called Konoba Dubovica.

Although it’s a small restaurant, you’ll have no problem finding a seat. Another great option is the beach bar named Duba. Here you can enjoy a delicious cocktail or a refreshing ice coffee. So, whether you’re looking for a meal or just a quick drink, you’ll be able to find something to suit your needs at Dubovica Beach.

Red Rocks Hvar , Croatia

The Red Rocks of Hvar Island: A Natural Wonder in Croatia.

Located on the southern coast of the island of Hvar, Croatia, the Red Rocks are a series of red sandstone cliffs that have become a popular destination for tourists and photographers. The cliffs get their striking reddish color from the presence of iron oxide in the sandstone, and stand out against the blue Adriatic Sea and the lush green vegetation of the surrounding region.

The Red Rocks are not only visually stunning, but they are also home to a number of rare plant species, including the Hvar bellflower, the Hvar rockrose, and the Croatian iris. These plants are adapted to the harsh conditions of the cliffs, and can be found nowhere else in the world.

In addition to the natural beauty of the Red Rocks, the area is also rich in history and culture. The cliffs were once used as a natural fortress by the ancient Greeks, who built a settlement on the island in the 4th century BC. The ruins of the Greek settlement can still be seen today, and offer a glimpse into the island’s past.

The Red Rocks are easily accessible from the town of Hvar, which is located just a few kilometers away. There are several hiking trails that lead to the cliffs, and visitors can also take a boat tour of the area to get a different perspective on the natural beauty of the Red Rocks.

The best time to visit the Red Rocks is in the spring or fall, when the weather is mild and the crowds are not as heavy as they are in the summer months. However, the cliffs are beautiful at any time of year, and offer a unique and unforgettable experience for anyone who visits.

Whether you are a nature lover, a history buff, or just someone who appreciates the beauty of the natural world, the Red Rocks of Hvar Island are a must-see destination. So if you’re planning a trip to Croatia, be sure to add the Red Rocks to your itinerary and experience the wonder of this amazing place for yourself.

BEST BEACHES ON ISLAND HVAR, CROATIA (2022 UPDATE)

Since Croatian beaches have become worldwide famous for their clean and clear sea, Island Hvar is no exception. Island Hvar is home to the most beautiful natural beach (voted by CNN) but also the world-famous Palmizana beach on Pakleni Islands. These stunning beaches are just the beginning of what Hvar has to offer.

Where are the best beaches on Island Hvar?

The whole island is full of unique beaches and hidden coves that are waiting to be explored. The norh of the island offers beaches overlooking Island of Brac and its high peaks. These beaches are mostly family friendly and more quiet since they are further away from the touristy centre – Hvar Town.

The south of the island is a bit different then the northern side. The south is home to steep vineyards overlooking the secluded beaches under its feet. These beaches overlook an open sea as well as Island Korcula.

With not many families with children, since the path is not too accessible, these southern beaches offer a more relaxed vibes. If you are looking for a sunset swim, that might turn into a night swim, these are the beaches with the best views.

Some of the most beautiful beaches on Island Hvar, with the bluest sea, are not situated on Island Hvar itself. You can find them on Pakleni islands. If you are staying in Hvar Town, you will be able to enjoy their view. Since Hvar Town has many ways of transportation to the Pakleni islands, all types of taxi boats and day rentals, getting there won’t be a problem.

The best thing about visiting Pakleni islands is renting a boat and just stopping on any beach you want, jumping from the boat, and snorkeling in the clearest and bluest sea.

Best time to visit Hvar beaches?

The best time to visit these stunning beaches depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for. The time when the beaches are still empty, and the weather is nice is from the end of April until mid of June and again in September and October.

The reason why this period is great is that some of the cafes are restaurants are starting to work but there is no crowd insight.

If you are looking to experience the true rush of the summer, the end of June, July, August, and early September are the months for you. This is when the beaches and the beach bars are full, the sea is the warmest, and the sun is the strongest.

Even though there are many people, the peak of summer has its own vibe and excitement. The beach parties, the boat parties, and the night parties are happening.

How to get to Hvar beaches?

Driving around on the scooter with the warm wind in your hair is all the summer on an island is about!

Most of these beaches are reachable with a scooter and we highly recommend it. There is more parking space, it is mostly free, you can get to more secluded beaches and simply stop for a view wherever you want. Renting a scooter is also much cheaper than a car and so is the gas, but it also feels like you are on an adventure!

Another way to get to these beaches is by renting a car. If you don’t know how to drive a scooter, renting a car is the best option for you. If you are a group of 4 people, even better! Since most of the beaches are a bit harder to reach, you will need to find a place to park and it won’t always be free, especially in the peak of summer.

For the beaches on Pakleni islands, there are a few options on how to get there. The first option that I would highly recommend if you know how to drive a small boat, is to rent one. Renting a small boat for the day will give you the opportunity to stop on any beach you want, but also just throw the anchor and jump from the boat.

If you do not prefer to drive by yourself, you can always rent a boat with a skipper. This way you will not have to worry about anything, just relax and enjoy your day!

For those who just want to get to the island, there are many taxi boats that drive every 30min. Simply hop on and hop off and you are free to go!

One of the most beautiful beaches on Island Hvar is Malo Zarace and Velo Zarace. These two beaches are situated on opposite sides of a small peninsula not far from the town. Malo Zarace beach offers some of the most stunning views of the turquoise sea from above, so no wonder it became a famous Instagram spot on the island.

This small beach does not offer any restaurants but in a few minutes’ walk to Velo Zarace you will find two small restaurants where you can grab some lunch or a few drinks to hide from the sun.

In the peak of summer, you will probably encounter quite a few tourists, but if you visit in the off-season, you can have the place almost to yourself.

Just before this beach, there is a smaller one so if you get there early enough you will have it all for yourself! The beach offers sunbeds but does not have any bars. The location on Mina beach has its pros and cons. The pros are that it is easily reachable and perfect for families with small kids since the seabed is sandy and the sea is pretty shallow. The con is that the beach gets crowded pretty fast.

This is a great beach to visit if you are nearby Jelsa and looking for a good swim spot.
